Owner Comments:

1942-D. Breen 4314. Mostly white with the slightest bit of peripheral toning, superior strike and virtually mark free. Die crack running across the top of the skull from west to east. Gorgeous, in an older NGC holder.

Varieties Owned:

1942-D. Doubled Die Obverse, Breen 4315, WDDO-001, Coneca's 1-O-I, FS#025-015, Extremely Rare. NGC F-15. Problem free, with pewter gray finish typical of a few years in commerce. Purchased at American Coin, West Roads Mall, Omaha, Nebraska.

1942-D. Doubled Die Reverse, Breen 4316, WDDR-001, Coneca 1-R-III, FS#025-016. Blast white with satin luster, very PQ NGC MS-64. A stray mark or two on eagle's chest. Superb strike and looks like an MS-66. Extremely Rare. Purchased raw, on Ebay as a normal "Choice BU 1942-D" quarter, based on the photograph and an educated hunch, for $45. Tied for 2nd finest known with 4 other coins, with 1 finer by a point. (See bottom photo)
