The 1968-Brilliant Looking (D)enver Jefferson in MS-67!
With Philadelphia not minting any this year, Denver an San Francisco seemed to take up the slack
quite well with some of their brilliant flashy Jeffersons.Trying to find any fully struck coins in this date is very
challenging. If you come across any with nice full steps, hold on to it, you've just hit the Mother-
Lode, with these being (1 out of a 5000) of finding another one again. When I notice the low points' especially
if anyone happens to find one in fullstep' this just makes me want to call in' and find out,,,, Why?
As of Oct 2013:
NGC Certified (369) of these, where' (28) in MS67 (2) in Star-Designation.
PCGS Certified (667) where only one in MS-67.
One did make a fullstep, but only in a MS64.
As of May 2017:
NGC just in MS67> (32)
PCGS just in MS67> (3)
PCGS Cerified (789) with only (2) in fullstep!
NGC Certified (729) no fullstep!
This was written a few years back-
Ron Guth: The 1968-D Nickel is a very common coin in all grades, including Gem Mint State. Like many of its contemporaries, it is an extreme rarity with Full Steps. The finest 1968-D Nickels certified by PCGS include over 180 MS66s, and just two finer.
