Boldly struck, minimally worn surfaces are superior in both technical quality and eye appeal for an example of this heavily circulated S-mint issue. Warm orange-gold color blankets both sides and is free of sizeable or otherwise individually mentionable abrasions. One of just 15,200 pieces produced, and a very scarce issue in an absolute sense that increases exponentially in rarity with grade. Unlike with many examples of the 1859-S Quarter Eagle, the S mintmark on this coin is clear with no fill.
