NGC US Coin Census for Sacagawea Dollars (2000-Date)

Owner Comments:

This was the first Sacagawea coin I purchased and started my mini-obsession with the series. I have always been a Lewis & Clark fan, but I didn't know how tremendous Sacagawea's contribution to the expedition was until I saw "America The History of Us" series on History Channel. I have a lot (almost all) of Lewis and Clark numismatic products and thought I would be remiss not to collect Sacagawea's items as well. This coin represents Native American contribution to agriculture. The Native American woman is planting what is known as the "three sisters" of Native American agriculture; squash, maize, and beans. The 2000 - 2008 Sacagawea coins have plain edges. 2009 is the first year the coin edges are incised. This year's edge reads 2009, S mint mark, and E. PLURIBUS UNUM.
