Owner Comments:

Like the Barber dime and half dollar, Charles Barber's half dollar design featured a portrait of Ms. Liberty that bore a slight resemblance to the “young head” portrait of Queen Victoria and other ladies, both real and fictional, who appeared on 19th century European coinage. The reverse was a slightly updated (from the early 19th century) of the heraldic eagle. Many modern observers view Barber’s design as serviceable but staid.

The mint issued 613 Barber quarters in 1913. Although that mintage in typical for the period, it is FAR less than the mintages noted in the modern era starting in 1936.

This piece has choice, mirrored surfaces with an array of attractive colors and a moderate cameo on both sides. There is a minor hairline on the cheek which might account for the PR-64 grade. The coin gives the general appearance of a higher grade piece.
