Owner Comments:
The Delaware Silver quarter was the first coin released in the 50 State Quarter Program on January 4, 1999. The Delaware state quarter is one of the most expensive Silver quarters in Proof 70 Ultra Cameo of the silver statehood quarters being collected. The obverse side depicting President George Washinton was modified to include some of the wording previously used on the reverse. The modification was autorized by special legislation, and carried out by Mint sculptor-engraver William Cousins, whose initials were added to the truncation of Washinton's neck adjacent to those of the original designer, John Flanagan. The Governor approved the theme. This coin celebrates Caesar Rodney's historic horseback ride in 1776. The coin is inscribed: The First State. Reverse Designer William Cousins.
