Owner Comments:

The 1892 Columbian is an important date as it was the first commemorative half dollar struck in the classic series. This specimen is a gorgeous and well struck coin with almost mark free and radiant surfaces and is among the finest of the type. The lustrous obverse features spectacular concentric rim toning in shades of cobalt blue & emerald green, while the portrait of Columbus is bathed in hues of orange, rose, and golden yellow. The reverse has proof-like surfaces that blaze reflectively under the lightly toned central devices in colors of light orange and rose, that are framed by concentric rim toning in varied shades of emerald / forest green, and burnt orange. A wonderfully preserved example of this first year type.
