The James Buchanan Dollar will mark the fifteenth release overall for the Presidential Dollar coin series. It will represent the third release during the year 2010. The circulation release date is currently scheduled for August 19, 2010.Details of any official launch ceremony are yet to be announced by the United States Mint. An offering of numismatic rolls is expected to coincide with the circulation release date with a First Day Coin Cover available at a later time.The obverse of the coin features a portrait of James Buchanan that was designed and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill. Inscriptions include “James Buchanan”, the motto “In God We Trust”, “15th Presidency” and the year’s of his Presidential term “1857-1861?.The reverse of the coin will feature an image of the Statue of Liberty designed and sculpted by Don Everhart. This is intended to represent the concept of Liberty. The reverse inscriptions include “United States of America” and the denomination “$1?.The James Buchanan Presidential Dollar also includes incuse edge lettering, which denote the date, mint mark, and the motto “E Pluribus Unum”.
