The Abraham Lincoln Dollar will be the final release of the year for the Presidential Dollar coin series and represent the sixteenth release in the series overall. As one of the most famous former Presidents of the United States, the release of the coin is expected to draw considerable interest. The tentative circulation release date for the coin is November 18, 2010.
An official launch ceremony will likely be held on or around the same date. Details should be available in the week prior to release. The United States Mint will also offer numismatic rolls of the coins and a limited production First Day Coin Cover.
The obverse of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Dollar features a portrait of Abraham Lincoln designed and sculpted by Don Everhart. The inscriptions included on the obverse will be “Abraham Lincoln”, the motto “In God We Trust”, “16th President”, and the years of his Presidential term “1861-1865?.
The reverse of the coin is also designed and sculpted by Don Everhart. It portrays the Statue of Liberty to symbolize the concept of Liberty. The reverse inscriptions include “United States of America” and the denomination “$1?. The incuse edge lettering of the coin will include the date, mint mark, and the motto “E Pluribus Unum”.
