mintage of a small 50,000..first year of the .925 sterling silver nickel, dime, quarter and half dollar in the proof sets. First year also to include the $2 polar bear coin which was struck in cuni for the sets. Silver Piedfort coins and 22k solid gold centered coins were also made in 1996 for the Twonie but sold singly and not part of the proof set.
