1987-W Constitution $5.00 The US Government within the last 15 years issued these, specifically for collectors. The $5.00 pieces contains .24187 of an ounce of gold and the $10.00 contains .48375 of an ounce. A modernistic design by Marcel Jovine was selected for the $5.00 gold coin of standard weight, size and fineness commemorating the bicentennial of the United States Constitution. The obverse portrays a stylized eagle holding a massive quill pen. Another large quill pen is featured on thr reverse. To the left are nine stars signifing the first thirteen colonies, that ratified the Constitution. Four stars to the right represent the remaining original states. Both uncirculated and proof versions were minted at West Point.
