THE STORY: 1995

Bill Clinton was the President of the United States.
Al Gore, Jr. was the Vice President of the United States.

Joseph Rotblat and The Pugwash Conference on Science and World Affairs shared the 1995 Nobel Peace Prize.

I was still living in Louisiana. Married life seemed to be going fine. I bought my first house and paid cash for it! It was a fixer upper and I started on day one fixing it up. It would ultimately be a three year learning experience. I don’t think I will try to reclaim an old house while I’m living in it again. There aren’t many things I cannot fix around the house anymore. However, there are several I choose not to fix and hire the work out now.

The country and the world were consumed with the O.J. Simpson trial in 1995. Domestic terrorists used a car bomb to blow-up the Oklahoma City federal building. Pope John Paul II brought a message of hope to the country with his whirlwind tour of the United States. The Americans and Russians joined forces in outer space when American Astronauts made their first visit to the Mir space station. The first sheep were cloned in England. Cleveland welcomed the opening of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 1995 we lost Howard Cosell (sports commentator), Jerry Garcia (musician), Rose Kennedy (political matriarch) , Ginger Rogers (actress) and Mickey Mantle (baseball player).

The Atlanta Braves won the World Series defeating the Cleveland Indians, 4 games to 2.
The San Francisco 49’ers won the Super Bowl defeating the San Diego Chargers.
The New Jersey Devils won the Stanley Cup sweeping the Detroit Red Wings in 4 games.
The Houston Rockets swept the Orlando Magic in 4 games for the NBA Championship.
UCLA defeated Arkansas to win the NCAA basketball Championship.
