The Kansas quarter was released on August 29, 2005, this is the 34th coin released in the 50 State® Quarter Program and the fourth released in 2005. Kansas, admitted into the Union on January 29, 1861, highlights an image of a buffalo and sunflower motif. The coin is inscribed: Kansas; 1861; 2005; and E Pluribus Unum.
