The US Virgin Islands are located in the Caribbean. The area was purchased from Denmark during World War I for $25 million to prevent Germany from seizing control - - I never knew that before . . .
The coin features the Virgin Islands official bird, the Banana Quit, along with their official flower, the Yellow Cedar flower. The Tyre Palm Tree is also featured. The three main islands, Saint Croix, Saint John, and Saint Thomas are also outlined.
