1866 50C Motto PR67 Cameo PCGS. Only 725 proof Seated Liberty half dollars were minted in 1866, the first year to include the motto IN GOD WE TRUST as part of the reverse design. Proofs are seldom encountered today and the first Motto year was particularly vulnerable to melting or loss. 05898850

The deeply mirrored fields contrast boldly with the sharply detailed, frosty devices to produce the coveted cameo effect. Peripheral bright blue toning surrounds a slightly off-center area of brilliance. NGC has certified just two proof examples at the Superb Gem Cameo level, with one finer; while PCGS has graded only this one specimen in PR67 Cameo (6/09).
