Jefferson (Type 1) 1938 to 1946 designed by Felix Schlag won an award of $1,000 in a competition with some 390 artists. Composition: 1938-1946 .750 copper; .250 nickel. Mintage: 49,818,600 which includes 29,600 proof coins. This coin was purchased through Heritage Auction Galleries on JUly 31, 2009 for $1,284.45 after over three years on my "want-list."
