This extraordinary coin has a very dark look to it being sintered,or left in the furnace too long during the annealing process. It's fantastic to find one as stunning as this dark-gem beauty! The quality and grade definitely shows on both sides, which I've found very interesting.
I've referenced also that back in these years, the quality was starting to be a real problem. Alot in this Issue were dark or almost black in color with many surface nicks on them. I believe when coming across dark mark-free gems like this coin would be considered very scarce and hard to find.
The 1958-P Jeffersons showed most of these in this condition, however' with the 1959-P Jefferson, there were only a few that were found like it. With its exceptional eye appeal, this coin is definitely a keeper for my collection.
