Series I, The Goat, Gilt Version, This Australian Lunar Silver Coin celebrates the Year of the GOAT. The reverse of the coin depicts a Mother and a Kid Goat and the Chinese character for Goat, as well as a border of five bats among the clouds, symbolizing health, peace and prosperity. The Obverse of the coin features Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. People born in the years 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991 and 2003 are born in the Year of the Goat. The coin is struck from 1 oz of 99.9% pure silver and was issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act of 1965. The Chinese characterize the Goat as needing security more than others, with life goals focused on the creation and maintenance of a harmonious environment.
