Owner Comments:

This coin is just so nice. The surfaces are clean, the luster is great, the strike is solid, and the details are very strong.

After over 6 decades this coin is so impressive, a real piece of U.S. and WWII history. You look at this coin and it makes you think of a time when the whole country was having to chip in and sacrifice for the war effort and it effected every part of daily life, even the money.

My family members look at this and they all like to call it a "silver penny." They all know that the coins are made of steel but they still initially react to them as being silver because of the color and all other coins of similar appearance from this time are silver. That has always been at the heart of the coins' unpopularity with the public in 1943. They were often easily mistaken for dimes in a time with 9 cents was a big deal. My mother has told me, "It doesn't even really look like a penny does it?"
