Owner Comments:
1884-CC is the most common date seen in the black GSA holders, with 962,638 of the total year mintage of 1,136,000. With this large population in GSA holders, nice coins for this date are abundant. As of this writing 275 have been graded ms66 and a whopping 2,115 graded ms65.
When you look at the deep-mirror population, the numbers drop off significantly. There are only 24 examples in ms65DPL (this coin), with only 4 coins graded higher in DPL (3 at ms66DPL and 1 at ms66DPL star).
Despite its rarity, ms65DPL earns only 1,028 point in the registry, while the abundant ms66 gets 1,333 points. Oh, the injustice of it all!!
This is a beautiful coin that I bought on ebay three years ago.
