1936 Lynchburg Sesquicentennial (B&M July 08 Balitmore). MS-68 * (NGC). Lot Information Description: It is not often that we have the opportunity to present a Lynchburg Commem that is as expertly preserved and wonderfully original as this high-end Superb Gem. The surfaces retain full mint bloom with a decidedly satin texture to the finish. There are certainly no distracting abrasions to report, as one should demand, and the devices present as boldly struck throughout. As important as these attributes are to establishing the validity of the MS-68 numeric grade, we must look elsewhere to explain the * designation for above-average eye appeal. Our search leads us immediately to the toning that both sides possess. It is a blend of vivid, attractive colors that include shades of olive-copper, orange-red, pale-gold, salmon-pink lavender and lilac-blue. Simply a beautiful example of the type, this coin comes highly recommended for inclusion in a collection that highlights both vivid toning and strong technical quality. NGC Census: only 6; just two of which are * coins; 0 finer. The finest examples known to PCGS are MS-67s. PCGS# 9324.
