NGC US Coin Census for Kennedy Half Dollars (1964-Date)

Owner Comments:

In 1992 the United States mint revived the issuance of the classic solid (not clad) silver coinage in the form of a new series of Proof sets. The dime, quarter and half dollar contained the pre-1965 composition of 90% silver and 10% copper. These beautiful coins because an instant hit with collectors because of their brilliant white surfaces and magnificent cameo appearance. This 2006-S half dollar features the revised bust John F. Kennedy that designers Gilroy Roberts and Frank Gasparro introduced in 1964. Their work was inspired by Paul Manship’s design for the 1960 John F. Kennedy inaugural medal. Although some people have criticized the additional hair detail noted on this updated version, the coin has an excellent appearance in this silver Proof version.
