I acquired this coin on 3/31/2008 on E-Bay. It is my third upgrade to my Morgan Dollar set this year.
1878 Morgan Dollar was the first Carson City dollar with the mintage of 2,212.000. Yet when the GSA (General Services Administration) sales were held, only 60,993 (2.75% of the original mintage) Morgan dollars were offered. This coin is one of these coins. The NGC population is 1 of 34 with only 6 graded higher as of 4/2008. There were only 156 coins graded PL by NGC.
