Owner Comments:
The No Motto New Orleans Eagle Series (1841 - 1860) starts out with a bang, with the second rarest date, overall, and the rarest in AU50 and above. This date has a very small ("tiny") date logotype.
This piece is from the Pinnacle Collection., and is a condition census piece as PCGS AU55. (PCGS 5/0 NGC 6/1) Threre are only 4 known better: California Collection (PCGS AU55), Louisiana Collection (PCGS AU55) and Carbbean collection (NGC AU58), according to Winter's book, and the ANR piece referenced below (PCGS AU55 in a very old green labeled PCGS holder).
From Doug Winter, January 2007, "The present example is bright and lustrous with scattered abrasions (as always seen on this date) present in the fields. It is well-detailed and quite attractive for the grade and date. In ANR’s July 2005 auction, a slightly nicer and similarly graded example realized $28,750. The present example is, as far as I know, the only higher graded 1841-O to become available since that other piece was sold a year and a half ago. In my opinion, the 1841-O eagle is a fantastically undervalued coin with huge upside potential as its true rarity becomes better known."
