Owner Comments:

1856-S $2 1/2 MS60 PCGS. This is an attractive example with alternating areas of green-gold and copper-gold. The grade may have been limited due to a light strike-through of a thread on Liberty's lower neck and out into the field near star 1, in addition to a couple of light scratches: one before Liberty's face, and a second above the eagle. Aside from those small distractions, the strike is superior, the color is appealing, and the Slanted 5 in the date is a historic reminder of the work of Mint Engraver James B. Longacre. Population: 1 in 60, 18 finer.
