Lyman Allen #8.04 (KM #169) - Mintage: 3,363,911

General
Although nearly twice as many ten centavos were struck in 1907, the 1908S the centavo coin is somewhat easier to find in uncirculated condition. Demand was high for the new reduced size and weight coinage which began in 1907 and nearly all entered circulation quickly with relatively few 1907 or 1907S dated coins retained in the treasury vaults. A substantial amount of recoinage was still required in 1908, but the volume had fallen off sufficiently for the San Francisco mint to again resume production of all circulating coinage for the Philippines. Due to the change in U.S. law in 1906, the San Francisco mint also began striking Philippine minor coinage in 1908 although this would only be bronze centavos until 1916 when five centavos would again be minted.

This Coin
This coin is a very well struck and lustrous example of this date. Notice the fine detail in the eagle's breast feathers and the woman's hair.
