This coin is from the Pinnacle Collection and the plate coin for Winter's coin on New Orleans gold coinage (Page 44).

The collector who assembled the Pinnacle Collection had the chance to purchase Gem examples of this date but felt that the present piece was superior in terms of its eye appeal and originality. There is some minor weakness of strike at the upper obverse border and the corresponding reverse but the centers are very sharp. Both sides have a deep, even yellow-gold color with rich mint frost clearly intact and undisturbed. The coin is naturally bright with cartwheel luster -- nice on a tiny coin.
