This date is one of the four most rare from the New Orleans mint, and the fifth most rare Type I Double Eagle, according to Winter and Crum,. The coin has some proof-like luster, and the clashmarks on the obverse and reverse that are typical for the date. The star clashmark in the neck of Liberty is also fully formed, while a total of 10 rays (from the reverse rays) are to be counted on the lower neck below the large curl.
