1934 (San Francisco)
This issue has long been regarded as the key to the Peace Dollar series, and a great example is important to any significant collection. While not the rarest issue in MS65, however, it is the rarest in MS60 and above. Both the '25 S and '28 S issues are rarer in MS65, and both command huge premiums.
This coin is one of the best examples in existence, in my opinion. It is bright white, extremely lustrous, and very well-defined. A slight tick under Liberty's chin keeps this coin from a higher grade. Other than this mark, the coin is flawless.
It took 5 years to find this coin! There aren't many to begin with at MS65, and many have mottled yellowish toning which I don't care for. There are also some at the MS65 grade that aren't nearly as well-defined as this coin is.
