Started in 1999, the State Quarter Series is scheduled to end in 2009 (50 states with D.C. and 5 other United States Territories.) Five new quarters are issued every year featuring theme from every states on the reverse in the order of admission to the Union. The observe was re-designed in 1999 for this program, but the center piece of President George Washington's bust sculpted by John Flanagan remains since 1932. The coin I am including in my 21st Century Proof Type set is the 2004 Silver Iowa Quarter. The design is not one of my favorite, but since it is the highest grade State Quarter Proof coin I have, I must include this into my 21st Century Proof Set. This coin was graded by NGC with a grade of PF 70 UC.
