Owner Comments:

In 2001, our Nickel is still the one we used since 1938. However, noone at that time would think of this is the first coin to be change this century. The last Jefferson Nickel showing President Thomas Jefferson's left-facing profile on the obverse and Monticello on the reverse desinged was minted in 2003. Beside the 4 years during World War II, the composition of this coin remains constent with 25% of Nickel and 75% of Copper. The diameter is about 0.835 inches. This 2003-S sample of the Jefferson Proof Nickel was purchased in Nov 2007 and was graded by NGC with PF 70 UC. Now it is sitting in my 21 Century Proof Type Set.
