Owner Comments:

O.101a Eliasberg. The 4 over 1 overdate obverse is shared by the O.101 and the very rare O.102 die marriage. These two are true overdates like the O.103 (over various dates), but it appears that the 1824 over 4 overdates really represent re-punching of a single digit. "The 4 in the date is sharply re-punched over a 1 with the point of the 1 visible at the upper part of the diagonal. The high points of this lustrous example are extremely sharp beneath mottled orange-gold, violet, and sea-green toning. Popular Guide Book variety," per Heritage cataloger. Obtained from Heritage Summer FUN Auction on 7/7/2011, Lot 3607.
