It was hard to imagine how I ended up with two nice MS65 40S and two nice MS65 41S coins out of those Wayte sets---while the 42S and 43S and 44S coins were not as well struck up. According to Bruce Fox, the 40S and the 41S are the hardest of the 1940's S minted coins to get in higher Gem grades-- especially with any definition in the thumb and finger separation areas. The 44S and the 42S and the 43S coins are not far behind, however. All are usually poorly struck up.
