Series I, This Australian Lunar Silver Coin celebrates the Year of the HORSE. The reverse of the coin depicts a Horse and the Chinese character for Horse, as well as a border of five bats among the clouds, symbolizing health, peace and prosperity. The Obverse of the coin features Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. People born in the years 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990 and 2002 are born in the Year of the Horse. The coin is struck from 1 oz of 99.9% pure silver and was issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act of 1965. Those people that are born in the year of the Horse are associated with the most self-reliant and independent of people.
