Series I, This Australian Lunar Silver Coin celebrates the Year of the Dog. The reverse of the coin depicts a Dog with a design featuring a German Shepherd, a smart and protective dog that bonds strongly with its keeper ,the Chinese character for Dog and the year-date. The Obverse of the coin features Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Chinese believe people born in the years 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994 and 2006 are loyal, trustworthy, honest and ethical. The coin is struck from 1 oz of 99.9% Pure silver and was issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act of 1965.
