This Australian Lunar Silver Coin celebrates the Year of the PIG. The reverse of the coin depicts a Pig standing on a bed of flowers,the Chinese character for Pig, and the year-date. The Obverse of the coin features Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Chinese regard people born in the years 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995 and 2007 as gallant, honest, generous and intelligent. The coin is struck from 1 oz of 99.9% pure silver and was issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act of 1965.
