1908-D No Motto
This common St.Gaudens double eagle is MS-63 graded by pcgs.
Obverse:this example of 1908 D no motto has same mint frictions on the breast and right knee of miss liberty (you can see them as 2 dark spots in the pic). Usually early dates St.Gauden suffer this type of frictions that don't corrupt the mint state. The details are excellent all over the obverse and in particular on the dress of miss liberty. Unfortunately face and left hand are not so deep as i'd like. The field around the miss Liberty is clear like the rays. The luster is very good and round well under a good light.
Reverse:The reverse is better then the obverse. The strike is excellent and all the eagle is detailed without bag marks. Field is clear with only minimal marks and the rays under the eagle are continuos without any distracting marks. Luster still be very good.
My opinion:
Surface preservation:3/5
Details/Strike:4/5
Luster:3/5
Eye Appeal:3/5
