The "50 State Quarters" program changed American Numismatics for good. Never before had the mint attempted to produce so many different coin varieties each year, and the public went somewhat crazy over it. It ran from 1999-2008 and featured five different states per year released in order of statehood. Each clad proof has a counterpart struck in silver.
