No 1973 Philadelphia or Denver minted Ike Dollars were released for General Circulation. A total of 2,000,000 pieces were minted in Denver, all intended for the 1973 Mint Set. 1,767,691 of these mint sets were sold by the Mint and the balance of the unissued coins were destroyed by the Mint. The Reverse of this coin was made with the Type 3 Improved High-Relief coin die.
