2000 Silver 10 Yuan Panda FROSTED RING MS70

The 2000 silver panda coins were only struck in two weights (1oz and Proof 1 kilogram). 1999 was the last year that a 1oz proof quality silver Panda coin was issued. The BU coin had 2 varieties – a frosted ring and a mirrored ring around the perimeter of the coin on the Temple of Heaven side. This was the first year that a frosted ring panda coin was made and probably why there were 2 versions. All of the coins minted after 2000 were generally struck with the frosted style ring.

Mintage of BU coins is unknown; however, the mirrored ring is valued much higher than the high valued frosted ring and is according to census dates and market offers about 7times scarcer than the frosted version. Nevertheless also the frosted variety is rare in top grade. Only about 2.76% of the graded population are graded a perfect MS70 by NGC (01/2021)
