Shanghai Mint
The 1997 panda gold coins were only struck in BU quality. The BU coin had 2 varieties – small and large dates. The large date was issued from the Shenyang mint and the small date from the Shanghai mint. The large date utilized a “plain” 1 while the small date utilized a “serif” style 1.
Announced mintage for both varieties was 54,853
