The year 1882 brought the first Federal Immigration Law signed by President Chester A. Arthur. Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of our 16th President, passed away during this year.

The prooflike 1882 Philadelphia Morgan Dollar is usually well-struck and has good contrast. Deep mirror prooflikes number about the same as prooflike examples in the NGC population report. This example is a borderline DMPL coin with nice contrast and delicate toning.
