Owner Comments:

Starting in 1925 the date area on the Standing Liberty quarter was modified. Previously it had been placed in a relatively flat plain where it was subject to excessive wear. Mint officials also found that the date on many coins was so poorly struck as be virtually unreadable even on brand new coins. The 1925 dated coins and all subsequent issues would have the date positioned in a concave area that provided it with more protection while in circulation and stronger definition when the coins were struck.
