1986 (S) Silver Eagle Dollar
Struck at San Francisco Mint
NGC MS-69
Label: San Francisco Cable Car

For 35 years people assumed Silver Eagles have been minted at West Point and Philadelphia Mints. A FOIA submitted by NGC resulted in the US Mint confirming that all 1986 and 1987 Silver Eagles were struck at San Francisco Mint. So NGC add a parenthetic around the "(S)" on the upgraded label. Remember that bullion coins do not contain mint marks. They were recently found and came from the Green Boxes with documentation indicating that his coin was made at the San Francisco Mint.

Therefore, the majority of graded coins are miss marked simplifying indicating 1986 Silver Eagle.

Population: 1 of 4,424 graded MS-69. Of the 4,564 1986 Silver Eagles, 96.93% graded MS-69.
Note: This is the first year of issue for the 1986 Silver Eagle Dollar.
