Coin Description: In examining the peripheral toning on this coin, I noticed that a cone of rainbow color starts at the top of the W in WE and gradually widens until the entire last T is awash in rainbow colors, that include lime green, cherry, tangerine, and deep lavender. The fields are blanketed in ice blue and deep lavender yielding to pale gold at the center. The reverse has a similar color scheme with pale golden center, a ring of deep lavender, and ice blue at the periphery. Gorgeous luster and minimally abraded surfaces combine with the incredible color to create phenomenal eye appeal.

Comments: Similar to my experience with the 1942 T1, I had never seen a rainbow toned 46-S and all the previous residents of this slot were either untoned or had light even champagne toning. And like the 42 T1, this coin was offered in a no reserve eBay auction by the same seller, and I once again placed a strong winning bid making this coin mine on 11/1/2020.
