* Ex: Maurice Storck Collection

Very happy to "inherit" this special coin from the offerings of a special person in US numismatic history -- Mr Maurice Storck passed away in 2019 at age 97 years old, and after giving humanity a lifetime of "service" in more ways than one.

Mr Maurice was the very first member #1 of the ANA to fork over $100 for a Life Membership (in 1948)! He then proceeded to become an extraordinary dealer and collector of coins and stamps for more than 80 years!

Mr Maurice was the last living attendee among a handful of American numismatic icons (Kosoff, Norweb, Pittman, Schermerhorn) at the 1954 auction of deposed King Farouk's "Palace Collection" in Cairo, Egypt. In 1959 he was also hired by Ken Bressett to be a distributor for Whitman Publishing.

Mr Maurice, born and raised in Maine, was stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked on Dec 7, 1941, surviving and subsequently serving in many battles of WWII -- he earned the Purple Heart medal for severe injuries in the Philippines. While recovering in New Zealand, he met his wife and eventually snuck away to get married in the middle of the war! They were together 47 years until her passing in 1990.

For the last 30 years of his life he volunteered more than 54,000 hours at the Arizona Veteran's Administration, including, of course, organizing coin and stamp collecting shows among the retirement home residents right to his final year.

Mr Maurice was low-key and humble to the end. He had priceless stories and experiences to share, but did so only with great coaxing because he didn't want to be seen as anyone special. He WAS special, though, and this coin that touched his hands is an honor for us to share now.

The coin itself is in the Top 5 - in 2020 there are only 4 '+' graded 66s at PCGS with only one higher.

Google his name and discover more. :-)
