Believe it or not, the 2015 Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin set is in its sixth year of production and still contains one uncirculated ASE in each set. The coin shown in this entry is from a 2015 A.U.D.C. set. The appearance difference between earlier burnished ASE’s and those from 2011 to present may turn out to be a good thing for collectors of this coin. While all other silver eagle collector coins have maintained their same appearance from the first year of mintage to the present, the uncirculated ASE is the only one whose appearance has changed. Who knows? Maybe this appearance change may make them more desirable as time goes on. Additionally, we all know that a coin’s rarity can be related to but not exclusive to its collectability. And there are far fewer uncirculated ASE’s minted since 2006 as compared to the number of proof ASE coins minted since 2006. So, appearance change and lower mintages may prevail in the long run with the uncirculated ASE’s collectability.
