Owner Comments:

At the sake of sounding redundant, the Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin set is still going strong in 2014, and the coin in this entry is from a 2014 A.U.D.C.set. This is the seventh straight year of production that the uncirculated ASE has been featured in an official U.S. Mint set. So, what happened in 2011 that changed the appearance of the uncirculated ASE? Some conspiracy theorists believe that beginning in 2011 the Mint bypassed the costly process of using steel shot or pellets to burnish the blanks before striking them to produce the uncirculated or "burnished" ASE. To my knowledge, there has been no record, announcement, document, press release, or decree published by any official source that confirms this conspiracy theory. But the fact remains; there is a noticeable difference between uncirculated burnished silver eagles of the early years as compared to the ones minted since 2011. See more with the 2015 coin.
