An 1855 three cent silver coin is considered to be a better date in the series ,especially in AU 50 condition,as this one was graded by NGC.Also,on July 4,1855 Poet Walt Whitman published Leaves of Grass.Franklin Pierce was the 14th President of the United States at the time this coin was struck.This coin is the Type II Variety.
