Owner Comments:
I purchased this relatively high grade circulated Liberty Cap cent out of the August 2020 Stack's Bowers auction, which, because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, was held online. Its actual appearance is somewhat more pleasing than the photos, with generally chocolate brown color and strong details. It does have a few fresh scratches as well as some old scratches and pinpricks, and small areas of light corrosion and rim damage at 6:00 and 9:00 relative to the obverse. Like all 1795 cents, it employs the "Head of '95" also used on a few 1794 varieties. It is die variety S77, which is substantially scarcer than the usually seen S76b and S78 1795 plain edge varieties. The "O" in "OF" is very weak as frequently seen on the S77 variety. This coin upgrades the S76b in my album that I bought back at the 1985 ANA convention for $75, a Fine details with large patches of obverse pitting.
